Local Business School and JCP on the look-out for Birmingham’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012
Are you Birmingham's Young Entrepreneur of 2012? Local business education leader Finance Business Training (FBT), with the support of Job Centre Plus, is launching a competition to find Birmingham's Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
In response to the growing need for education and employment opportunities for young people in the area, FBT is launching the competition to help budding young leaders or entrepreneurs get their first foot on the business education ladder. The winners will be awarded a full scholarship for an Undergraduate Plus programme in Business at FBT's Birmingham campus, based in the city centre.
To qualify, anyone with A/S Level, BTEC or equivalent qualification, and out of education or employment no longer than 12 months, just have to visit an Open Day held on Wednesday 28th March at Birmingham's Centre City, anytime between 10am and 4pm.
With support of the local JCP, anyone attending the open days will have the chance to get advice from careers and finance experts. JCP staff and Edexcel will also be on hand to discuss part-time job opportunities while studying, as well as the extensive progression routes once qualified.
At the open day, entrants for the competition will be expected to demonstrate their vision and ambition by taking part in a 10 minute interview to explain why they should be Birmingham's Young Entrepreneur 2012, to a panel of three judges from the business school and local JCP
Working with the JCP to improve further educational opportunities in Birmingham, Nicola Schaefer, FBT Regional Director for Business Development, said:
"I am delighted that FBT is able to provide this exciting opportunity for a local person to make such a positive step in their lives. Vocational Business qualifications are the most valuable way to demonstrate to an employer that you have both the acumen and experience needed to succeed in the business world. Combining this qualification with the opportunity to study in another country and FBT's extensive corporate networks and excellent employment rate, this is a genuine and life changing opportunity, for any ambitious individual."
FBT is part of the LSBF international business school with campuses around the UK and internationally in Singapore and Canada. FBT believes that young people and future business leaders should have access to high quality education and training despite financial background, and award annual scholarships to help young people realise their educational aspirations. Last year, LSBF and FBT awarded over £2million in scholarships and bursaries.
