Official Statement on QAA Report
Birmingham, 01 October 2015 – Finance and Business Training notes the findings set out in the Higher Education Review (HER) report published today by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).
FBT welcomes the fact that the QAA has found evidence of good practice within its Careers Services department and that it has noted the institution’s efforts to embed employability and entrepreneurship skills into its programmes.
The School welcomes observations of improvement and the positive judgements related to the maintenance of its academic standards. However, the School expresses disappointment at the findings related to its Higher National provision and will be working with its new vocational structure to ensure the implementation of the QAA recommendations.
As announced on 25 September, following recommendations outlined in a Strategic Options Review report produced by independent expert advisors, FBT will implement a phased withdrawal from future provision of HND programmes.
Meanwhile, the School has implemented improvement plans that will be pursued further and will continue to comply with best practice in delivering student services and learning outcomes.
The School will be responding in full to the QAA report within the required timescale.
